This week, I visited the ‘Women with Vision’ exhibition at the RWA, Bristol. (Details can be found on this link https://www.rwa.org.uk/whats-on/women-vision)
This exhibition shows the work of Elisabeth Frink, Sandra Blow and Sonia Lawson. I absolutely loved the abstract work of Sandra Blow, as it had amazing energy and huge presence. Her style uses painting and collage to create interesting textural elements to her work.
My favourite was ‘Helix’ (1990). I love the way that Blow combines organic calligraphic swirls with the structured ‘trellis’ like lines created by pleated canvas and brown lines.
